Due to continued success and growth we are looking to recruit an additional person to join the Oracle Support Team. Reporting to the Oracle Team Leader you will be responsible for delivering a highly customer focused support service within a multi-client mission critical web and enterprise infrastructure based environment.

• Responsible for the support and maintenance of all client MySQL and Oracle systems - providing support to clients’ databases and maintaining high availability through proactive measures.
• Resolve complex technical issues escalated by other internal departments.
• Responsible for ensuring the integrity and availability of all databases through proactive management and monitoring.
• Ensuring clients & partners are updated on current status of issues.
• Implement operational procedures, tools and best practice as defined in the corporate business plan
• Responsible for evaluation and testing of MySQL patches and upgrades.
• Configure, check and correct backups and any errors.
• Restore and recover databases as and when required.
• Ensure that MySQL and client specific knowledge is retained through documentation of procedures and knowledge-base articles.

• Good understanding of MySQL 5 (Red Hat and Oracle edition) databases including: administration; replication; backup & recovery; performance tuning; problem management and patch management.
• Knowledge of e-commerce systems and how they relate to MySQL (i.e. Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Apache HTTP server and PHP).
• Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS (9i,10g,11g) highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Clustering technologies (e.g. MySQL cluster, Veritas Cluster) useful.
• Demonstrable related industry experience in the areas of technical support and administration of MySQL databases on Linux platforms.
• Knowledge of backup strategies and systems (preferably Netbackup).
• Experience of running mission critical systems within a multi-site data centre environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge/experience of ITIL standards highly desirable.
